Brant SCIA has undertaken a Tier 1 project of documenting the amount of nitrogen loss during the season due to the volatilization process 3 to 4 weeks following fertilizing crops. Dosimeters were used to document the amount of loss experienced on each of the farms participating in the research trial when testing losses in wheat and corn fields. Work is underway of turning this local research project into a multi-year, multi-county research project with Brant’s 2023 project as a pilot. Data of the study was distributed on June 29th concerning the wheat trials and a planned session documenting the losses in corn during the January 2024 AGM meeting day in Brant.
