DESCRIPTION:Join the Ontario Forage Council and Ontario Grazing Mentors Birgit Martin and Steve Martin for a two-night grazing plan workshop on September 10th and September 17th. \nParticipants will learn about key concepts needed to develop a grazing plan\, such as stocking rate and carrying capacity\, and then see how to developing their grazing plan and use the grazing chart. Come prepared to do the work! \nA grazing plan template will be sent to registered attendees prior to the workshop. You will have time during each session to work on your own grazing plan and ask the mentors questions while doing so. \nLearn more about the Ontario Grazing Mentors at https://onforagenetwork.ca/ontario-forage-council/ontario-grazing-mentorship-program/. \nFunding for this event has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). \nREGISTER HERE \nThis event is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for applicants with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Rotational Grazing category.

SUMMARY:Precision Conservation and Profit Mapping
DESCRIPTION:The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agronomists. With a focus on cover crops\, nitrogen management\, and rotational grazing\, these sessions will support the objectives of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund. With the Precision Ag specialty recently opened to Ontario CCAs\, there is an opportunity to broaden training related to sustainable agricultural practices. Check out the full webinar series schedule here. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, September 23 with Anastassia Lagounova\, Conservation Specialist with the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) and Aaron Breimer\, Ontario CCA and agronomist. Anastassia will present on the outcomes and results of GRCA’s Profit Mapping Demonstration Project (2020-2024) and the Agriculture Conservation Planning Framework (ACPF) pilot project\, a GIS-based toolbox developed by the USDA Agricultural Research Service that helps identify opportunities for conservation practices to improve water quality\, manage runoff\, and reduce erosion. Aaron will share the challenges and benefits of profit mapping from the agronomist’s perspective. \nThis webinar will include a presentation on the GRCA Profit Mapping Project\, a CCA/agronomist perspective on profit mapping\, and a summary of OSCIA programs that can utilize this technology. \nFunding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. \nCEUs: 1.0 Crop Management OR 1.0 Precision Ag (Pending Approval) \nREGISTER HERE \n
