OTTAWA RIDEAU REGIONAL SCIA CAREER OPPORTUNITY
REGIONAL COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR
TYPE OF POSITION: Service contract
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Encourage networking amongst county/districts in the region;
- Organize and assist with activities and events to strengthen the local and regional Soil and Crop Improvement Associations;
- Cooperate in regional-significant educational events that are supported through the regional association;
- Report directly to the Provincial Director, who acts on behalf of and in consultation with the Regional Association Board of Directors;
- Assist in recruitment activities for new members;
- Write (or otherwise provide) a minimum of four articles (typically 500 words) per year on innovation in agriculture or best practices for sustainable production or membership skills development for the province wide e-newsletter (specifications that must be satisfied for provided articles will be shared by the appointed e-newsletter News Team);
- Assist the Region with the preparation and submission of grant applications and related claim reports;
- Develop and maintain the Region’s landing page (or website as applicable) with relevant and updated material;
- Secretary/Treasurer duties as assigned by the Region.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Superior communication and writing skills;
- Team oriented, but can work independently with minimal supervision;
- Excellent organization and member service skills;
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (i.e. days, nights, weekends);
- Dynamic personality, energetic and self-confident;
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
REQUIREMENTS
- Class G drivers license
- Access to a reliable source of transportation
- Computer
- Digital Camera
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience in writing technical articles on agricultural practices
- Participation in training workshops (typically twice annually for up to one day in duration) and attend OSCIA Annual Conference (held in London, Kingston or Alliston)
