SUMMARY:Forage Fertility: Unearthing a Profitable Portion of Nitrogen Stored in Soil with Dr. Alan Franzluebbers
DESCRIPTION:The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agronomists. With a focus on cover crops\, nitrogen management\, and rotational grazing\, these sessions will support the objectives of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund. Check out the full webinar series schedule here. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, October 21 with Dr. Alan Franzluebbers\, Research Ecologist with the USDA-Agricultural Research Service on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh\, NC. Research has been conducted in soil ecology and management. Specifically\, Dr. Franzluebbers has evaluated soil-test biological activity in conservation cropping and managed grazing systems to estimate soil N availability. He is the Past-President of the American Forage and Grassland Council. \nFunding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. \nCEUs: 1.0 NM (Pending Approval) \n*This event is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for applicants with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Nitrogen Management and Rotational Grazing categories. \nREGISTER HERE \n

SUMMARY:In-Season Nitrogen Rate Adjustments with Dr. Joshua Nasielski
\nJoin us on Thursday\, October 8 with Dr. Joshua Nasielski\, professor of field crop agronomy at the University of Guelph. Dr. Nasielski also holds the MacSon Professorship in agronomy for Eastern and Northern Ontario. His research is based out of the Winchester Agricultural Research Station. Dr. Nasielski’s research interests focus on the agronomy and crop physiology of field crops (spring cereals\, corn\, soybeans\, and legumes). \nFunding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. \nCEUs: 1.0 NM (Pending Approval) \n*This event is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for applicants with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Nitrogen Management category. \nREGISTER HERE \n

SUMMARY:Precision Conservation and Profit Mapping
DESCRIPTION:The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agronomists. With a focus on cover crops\, nitrogen management\, and rotational grazing\, these sessions will support the objectives of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund. With the Precision Ag specialty recently opened to Ontario CCAs\, there is an opportunity to broaden training related to sustainable agricultural practices. Check out the full webinar series schedule here. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, September 23 with Anastassia Lagounova\, Conservation Specialist with the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) and Aaron Breimer\, Ontario CCA and agronomist. Anastassia will present on the outcomes and results of GRCA’s Profit Mapping Demonstration Project (2020-2024) and the Agriculture Conservation Planning Framework (ACPF) pilot project\, a GIS-based toolbox developed by the USDA Agricultural Research Service that helps identify opportunities for conservation practices to improve water quality\, manage runoff\, and reduce erosion. Aaron will share the challenges and benefits of profit mapping from the agronomist’s perspective. \nThis webinar will include a presentation on the GRCA Profit Mapping Project\, a CCA/agronomist perspective on profit mapping\, and a summary of OSCIA programs that can utilize this technology. \nFunding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. \nCEUs: 1.0 Crop Management OR 1.0 Precision Ag (Pending Approval) \nREGISTER HERE \n
