As I’m writing this report the temperature has been 30 degrees for the last 2 days of May. Most seeding has wrapped with just a few fields left. Some early hay is now being cut. NSSCIA is going to have a crop tour after wheat harvest to look at some cover crops as well as some corn and bean fields. More details to be worked out still. Also of interest, Matt Ververs of Ververs Custom Farming in Elmvale has teamed up with the local high school to test nitrate levels in the water at tile drainage outlets to compare conventional planting, strip till, no till and plant green in four corn fields. That’s all for now.
