It’s so nice to attend in-person events again!  St. Clair Region’s 3 local associations were able to host their annual Summer Twilight Tours in-person again in August.  Each event was well-attended and it was great to see members and guests catching-up just like old times.
Essex Soil and Crop held their Twilight Tour on August 10th at Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards in Harrow.  Cooper’s Hawk Vineyards were also the 2021 Essex Conservation Farm Award Winner (see photo of sign presentation at left showing owner, Tom O’Brien with partners/staff on left and ESCIA President, Marc Rivest and ESCIA Secretary, Michael Dick on right)!  Attendees enjoyed a wonderful sit down dinner (and some exceptional wine, of course) and then took a wagon tour of a constructed wetland on the vineyard property plus an informative tour of the winery and the wine making process.

Lambton Soil and Crop Improvement Association also held its Twilight Tour event on August 10th at CanGrow in Alvinston.  They had a great turnout with 150 people in attendance!  Guests enjoyed a hot meal plus a number of guest speakers and demonstrations including Anne Verhallen (Soil Health Test), Peter Sikkema (Time of Day Spraying Demo Plot), Nitrogen Timing (Chris Roelands), Q&A with Peter Johnson, and a Dry Fertilizer Application Equipment Demo and other Equipment Displays.
Kent Soil and Crop Improvement Association hosted their Twilight Tour on August 30th at Red Barn Brewing Company in Blenheim (see photo below).  Guest speakers at this event included Mike Nuttall (Biological Inoculants), Anne Verhallen of OMAFRA (Soil Health) and Joanne Sanderson of OSCIA (Program Updates).  Attendees at the KSCIA Twilight Tour enjoyed great burgers and sides from the Smash Burger Food Truck as well as trying out some great beer from this local brewery.
Thank-you to everyone who came out for this summer’s Twilight Tours and a BIG thanks to the generous sponsors of all 3 events!
