Hello everyone, with cool nights and soybean leaves finally beginning to turn colour, it is hard to believe fall is already upon us. I hope you were able to take a few days to relax and enjoy time with family and friends. It has certainly been a cooler than normal summer, so hopefully we get a warm and open September and October to make up for it.

I hope you had a chance over the summer months to check out some of the many events offered by soil and crop across not only the Georgian Central SCIA region but across the whole province. I heard some excellent comments about the various summer meetings offered by different counties within our region, and also some of the larger events held by OSCIA or in conjunction with OSCIA such as compaction days, the Forage Expo and the OSCIA provincial summer meeting.

Specific to Georgian SCIA, I would like to give a big congratulations to Ray Robertson on the announcement of his upcoming induction into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame. This will be taking place this fall in PEI.  Ray’s work with Georgian SCIA is just a fraction of his contributions to Canadian agriculture. If you get a chance please congratulate him personally. It is quite the accomplishment!!

With that, I wish all across the region a safe and bountiful harvest season. We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and the fall scenes across the region certainly reflect this.
