SUMMARY:Georgian Central SCIA Compaction Day
DESCRIPTION:Please save the date for the Georgian Central SCIA Compaction Day\, Thursday July 16th\, 2026\, at Tupling Farms in Redickville ON. \nThe day will see a wide variety of soil compaction demonstrations – everything from grain buggys\, to combines and potato harvesters\, to forage equipment! Implements are driven over underground pressure sensors which send real-time data to a giant presentation screen at the field’s edge. Commentators keep the day rolling: interpreting data\, relaying equipment metrics and sparking discussion with the audience. \nOn top of the compaction demos\, the event will also highlight hands on education stations on cover crops\, manure management and tire ballasting. Producers can browse a tradeshow and check out additional equipment on display all day long too! \nTickets are $30.00 for OSCIA members and $50.00 for non-members\, with a catered lunch included. Not an OSCIA member yet\, but would like to become one? Purchase your membership before your tickets here! \nEmail georgiancentralscia@ontariosoilcrop.org for more event information or go to: www.greyagservices.ca/compaction-event \n*This event is recognized as OSCIA OFCAF KSE under BMP category Nitrogen Management and Cover Cropping

SUMMARY:Northwest Diagnostics Day
DESCRIPTION:OMAFA and University of Guelph will come together with NOFIA in Emo to deliver a crop diagnostics day\, July 28 2026. Building on the success of the Northeast Diagnostic Day in New Liskeard in 2025\, the team has aligned again to deliver an informative day of producer education at the Ontario Crops Research Centre – Emo. Specialists from Ontario Ministry of Food and Rural Affairs will be hosted by the University of Guelph researchers\, with the event facilitated by the Northern Ontario Farm Innovation Alliance. \nThis event would be focused on producer education around major crops and weed management\, with discussions on topics like Nitrogen Management and Cover Cropping. \nThe event website and pricing will be set at a later date. This will be a ticketed event. \nNOFIA and the New Liskeard team found that the New Liskeard event was really a huge success\, with over 80 people in attendance. Despite the weather and thanks to Horst\, Joanna\, Meghan\, Christine\, and Ben for making the trip. This year Mike Cowbrough will be attending instead of Megan Moran\, with the rest of the team remaining the same. \n*This event is recognized as OSCIA OFCAF KSE under BMP category Nitrogen Management and Cover Cropping

SUMMARY:Thunder Bay Community Pasture Walk and Field Day
DESCRIPTION:NOFIA invites you to the Thunder Bay Community Pasture Walk and Field Day\, in collaboration with OMAFA and Lakehead University\, along with the board of the Thunder Bay Community Pastures. \nThe event will highlight the ongoing pasture improvements as the pasture management adapts towards a rotational grazing system as well as key research projects taking place on the pasture. The Living Labs project on carbon sequestrations in soil will be highlighted\, as well as the final season of research for the rotational grazing project with Lakehead University. \nOMAFA’s Christine O’Reilly will be on hand to discuss optimal management of forages and the research around the use and calibration of a rising plate meter. This will be contrasted with the remote sensing data being collected by drone and analyzed by Lakehead’s labs. \nThe event will start at the pasture with a walk and demonstration\, with a talk to follow at the nearby O’Connor Hall. \n*This event is recognized as OSCIA OFCAF KSE under BMP category Rotational Grazing
