Adaptive Nitrogen Trials (ANT): A collaborative initiative between the OSN\, EFAO\, and Farmers for Climate Solutions (FCS) which supports farmers in trialing the profitability of various N application rates in corn following a cover crop. SUMMARY:Nitrogen Management Strategies to Increase Nitrogen Availability in Crops
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin a virtual event with Craig Drury\, from  Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada at the Harrow Research & Development Centre presenting on nitrogen management strategies to increase nitrogen availability to crops. \nWhen nitrogen fertilizer is added to soils\, it undergoes enzymatic and microbial reactions and some of these processes can result in losses of a very expensive fertilizer input. This presentation will provide examples of different approaches that could be used to help your farm operation reduce these losses and increase the amount of nitrogen available to your crops.  Field trials conducted over the last 12 years have examined different nitrogen fertilizer sources (including inhibitors)\, application methods (broadcast\, broadcast & incorporated\, or injection)\, timing (planting\, side-dress\, late application) and fertilizer rates. A recent study has also looked at some of these nitrogen management practices when cover crops are present.  Results from these field studies as well as those from the 2024 living lab trials will be presented and discussed. \nWhen?
