DESCRIPTION:Thinking about getting into rotational grazing? Wanting to up your rotational grazing game? Come on out to the Bruce County Rotational Grazing Field Day! \n\nThe day starts with producer Peter Kotzeff talking about how he strip grazes corn and why it might be something for you to consider adding to your grazing system. He’ll also talk about water system infrastructure and Amadou Thiam from OMAFA will be present to discuss designing a water system from scratch and things that need to be taken into consideration. \nIn the afternoon we’ll travel to the Bruce Community Pasture for lunch and to learn more about the projects they’ve been working on as part of the Community Pastures Initiative. Find out how they’re intensifying their rotational grazing system and what considerations have gone into their grazing plan. \nWhere: Keady and Tiverton in Bruce County. SUMMARY:Forage Fertility: Unearthing a Profitable Portion of Nitrogen Stored in Soil with Dr. Alan Franzluebbers
DESCRIPTION:The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agronomists. With a focus on cover crops\, nitrogen management\, and rotational grazing\, these sessions will support the objectives of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund. Check out the full webinar series schedule here. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, October 21 with Dr. Alan Franzluebbers\, Research Ecologist with the USDA-Agricultural Research Service on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh\, NC. Research has been conducted in soil ecology and management. Specifically\, Dr. Franzluebbers has evaluated soil-test biological activity in conservation cropping and managed grazing systems to estimate soil N availability. He is the Past-President of the American Forage and Grassland Council. \nFunding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). SUMMARY:Adaptive Multi Paddock Grazing with Virtual Fencing
DESCRIPTION:  \nDate: Tuesday\, November 17\, 2026 \n\nTime: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Central \n\n\nAdaptive Multi-Paddock (AMP) grazing can help producers improve pasture utilization\, respond to changing forage conditions and give livestock access to fresh forage more frequently. However\, moving temporary fences and maintaining water access can make more intensive grazing systems challenging to implement. \nJoin ranchers Tim Wray of Alberta and Marie-Pier Beaulieu of Quebec for a practical discussion about using virtual fencing to support AMP grazing. Drawing on their experience and research\, they will share how they are using this technology\, how cattle learn and respond to the system\, and what they are seeing in their pastures. They will also discuss how virtual fencing affects the labour\, time\, infrastructure and day-to-day decisions involved in moving cattle\, along with some of the challenges and limitations producers should consider.
