SUMMARY:Exploring Nitrogen Strategies On-Farm with Norm Lamothe
DESCRIPTION:The Ontario Soil Network (OSN) and Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) are excited to collaborate on an event hosted by Norm Lamothe at Woodleigh Farms to showcase various Nitrogen Management Trials he is working on. Adaptive Nitrogen Trials (ANT): A collaborative initiative between the OSN\, EFAO\, and Farmers for Climate Solutions (FCS) which supports farmers in trialing the profitability of various N application rates in corn following a cover crop. Plant Available Nitrogen (PAN): A continuing trial with the EFAO looking at how cover crops contribute to plant available nitrogen in the following growing season. Living Lab Ontario (LL – ON): is a five-year innovation project that brings together farmers\, organizations\, researchers\, and other experts to co-develop\, test\, and evaluate beneficial management practices (BMPs) that address climate change challenges in livestock and cropping systems. This event is funded in part by Farmers for Climate Solutions FaRM Program \nWhen? Monday July 7 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm \nWhere? 528 Sharpe Line Cavan\, ON L0A 1C0 \nREGISTER FOR THE EVENT \nExploring Nitrogen Strategies On-Farm with Norm Lamothe is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for farmers with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Nitrogen Management category.

SUMMARY:Digging Deeper - Why these nitrogen management BMPs?
DESCRIPTION:The On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) supports specific nitrogen management Best Management Practices (BMPs)\, but how and why were those BMPs chosen? The Farm Resilience Mentorship (FaRM) Program\, an initiative of Farmers of Climate Solutions\, is excited to host a webinar with Dr. David Burton\, FCS’ Scientific Advisor and Professor Emeritus at Dalhousie University. Together\, we will dive deeper into nitrogen management BMPs\, and the impact that they could have on building on-farm resilience and reducing emissions. \nWhen? Tuesday July 8 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm \nWhere? ONLINE! \nREGISTER FOR THE EVENT \nDigging Deeper – Why these nitrogen management BMPs? is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for farmers with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Nitrogen Management category.

SUMMARY:Twilight Meeting & Industry Tour
DESCRIPTION:2025-TWILIGHT-MEETING\n6:30 pm – Tour of the Living Labs On-farm Research Trials.\nJust past 7812 Sideroad 5\, Fergus ON N1M 2W3 \nJoin us for an exclusive look at an innovative on-farm greenhouse gas (GHG) monitoring project underway at a commercial dairy farm in Fergus\, Ontario. Launched in May 2024\, this trial compares conventional practices with improved\, codeveloped approaches to measure real-time nitrous oxide (N₂O) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. The goal: to make the ‘invisible’ visible for farmers by improving understanding of emissions\, their impacts\, and how science can guide better management.\nLearn about the study’s role in Canada’s GHG footprint analysis\, explore real-time monitoring tools\, and discover how this research is helping bridge the gap between science and on-farm practice. \n7:45 pm – Tour of Adaptive Nitrogen Trails with Ken Musselman and the Ontario Soil Network.\nApprox 6387 4th Line East\, Elora ON N0B 1S0 \nJoin the Ontario Soil Network (OSN) and host Ken Musselman for an evening focused on fine-tuning fertilizer rates and digging into the details of nitrogen management. Take a tour of Ken’s adaptive nitrogen trials and check out his no-till equipment in action. It’s a great opportunity to see innovative practices up close and connect with fellow farmers and agronomists for a hands-on\, practical discussion about all things nitrogen. Ken’s trials are part of the Adaptive Nitrogen Trials\, a collaborative project between OSN\, the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO)\, and the Fertilizer Canada Sustainability (FCS) initiative. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen? Wednesday\, July 9\, starting @ 6:30 PM \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration? To pre-register\, you can text Krista Bates at 519-766-8252 or email scia-wellington@ontariosoilcrop.com. There will be donuts and cold drinks served at the 2nd location. \nREGISTER HERE \nTwilight Meeting & Industry Tour is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for farmers with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Nitrogen Management category. \n

SUMMARY:Nitrogen in Practice: Where Research Meets the Field
DESCRIPTION:Do you have persistent questions about nitrogen and nitrogen management? Curious about what researchers are working on at the University of Guelph? Want to contribute your insights and perspectives to contribute to research priorities in Ontario? This is your opportunity to network and connect with researchers in a small group which allows for productive conversations\, new connections\, and novel ideas. \nThe Ontario Soil Network and Soils at Guelph are excited to invite you to join us for an interactive morning of farmer-researcher networking situated around the topic of nitrogen. This isn’t a sit-down seminar\, it’s: On-the ground trials of world-class nitrogen trials. Farmer-led insights and open Q&A. Real-time networking between farmers and researchers. \nCoffee\, conversation\, and practical takeaways. Strong relationships between farmers and researchers ensure that research results in practical applications that address on-farm challenges. This event is designed to spark collaboration and new ideas by connecting the practical insights of farmers with the technical expertise of researchers. Bring your questions\, share your perspectives\, and help build continuous collaborations between farmers and researchers. \nWhen?
