SUMMARY:Management Opportunities Following Wheat Harvest
DESCRIPTION:Register for an informative webinar on Management Opportunities Following Wheat Harvest. \nFirst we’ll hear from Chris Brown (OMAFA) on organic amendments following wheat harvest. She will cover timing\, rates\, placement and more! Tune in to hear from an expert about the benefits of organic amendments. Chris will be followed by a presentation on Cover Cropping\, including topics like mix selection\, planting\, establishment and more! \nFinally\, we will be hearing from Sam Schultz (AAFC) about the uses of satellite imagery in agriculture! She will also cover how to use AAFC’s Residue Survey where farmers can submit photos of their field surface to help improve interpretation of satellite imagery. Every photo submission also enters you in a chance to win a Visa Gift Card! \nThis webinar and the following activity is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for farmers with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Nitrogen Management and Cover Cropping categories. \nTo qualify as a KSE\, farmers must attend this webinar AND submit a surface photo of their field to AAFC’s Residue Survey. Instructions on how to use the survey will be given during the webinar and emailed to to farmers following the webinar. \nIf you have any questions\, don’t hesitate to email research@ontariosoilcrop.org.

SUMMARY:Hog Manure & Mineralizing Nitrogen for Corn with Ron Martin
DESCRIPTION:Take a field tour with Ron Martin to look at his corn after winter wheat with cover crops (oat peas crimson clover and tillage radish) which was planted after wheat and worked down before winter. Ron also has plots with varying levels of applied hog manure (5000gpa hog manure and 3000gpa hog manure) and side dress 24-0-0 nitrogen applied at 6 leaves which is compared against a zero-fertility plot to measure difference between cover crop fertility as opposed to applied fertility. \nFor more information: \nHog Manure and Mineralizing Nitrogen for Corn with Ron Martin – Ontario Soil Network \nHog Manure & Mineralizing Nitrogen for Corn with Ron Martin is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for farmers with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Cover Cropping and Nitrogen Management categories.
