DESCRIPTION:Beef Farmers of Ontario invite you to join us on August 22 and 23\, 2025\, for farm tours in Lennox & Addington and surrounding area. This event will provide an opportunity to learn from other cow-calf producers through farm tours and guest speakers. We look forward to discussing pasture research and management\, genetic selection\, strategies to prepare calves for the feedlot\, marketing\, and more. Please note\, only the August 22 event day qualifies as an OFCAF Rotational Grazing Knowledge Sharing Event. \nDraft Agenda: \nFriday\, August 22nd \n12:15 pm Registration at the Hampton Inn\, Napanee \n1:00 pm Bus departs hotel \n1:15 pm Farm Stop 1 \nThis family farm is a mixed farming operation consisting of hay\, beef\, soy beans\, and wheat. They have a Charolais cow herd where they focus on producing quality calves that will go on to perform well in the feedlot. Their farm meets the standards of the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) through certification with the Verified Beef Production Plus (VBP+) program. They emphasize the value of improving the environment through rotational grazing\, water management\, and working with organizations like Ducks Unlimited. \n3:15 pm Farm Stop 2 \nThis family farm is a purebred Red Angus cow-calf operation which focuses on genetic selection and producing seedstock. Discussions will focus on marketing cattle\, succession planning\, forage production\, and a guest speaker on predation challenges. \n4:30 pm Farm Stop 3 \nThis family farm features an 800 head backgrounding operation. DESCRIPTION:Join EFAO for a day in Prince Edward County that’s not to be missed! Three fabulous EFAO farms will open their doors for a tour in late July. Join us for one\, two or all three stops! \nThe afternoon will kick off at Fiddlehead Farm\, where farmers Heather and Stephanie will walk you through their operation from seed to CSA bin. They’ll share notes on the simple\, inexpensive DIY farm building options that have gotten them through their first fourteen years of farming and dreams of next steps. During an in-depth farm tour\, they will also share about learning from mistakes\, keeping curiosity alive\, and continually improving their systems – a framing that has led to greater satisfaction in farming for themselves\, the team\, and their customers. \nReturn to Earth farm is the second stop\, where participants will have a behind-the-scenes tour of their rotational grazing systems for farm-raised lamb\, pork\, poultry and rabbit. Owners Ben and Kate will also talk about their maple syrup production\, homemade soaps\, and other value-added items. \nAt the final stop for the day\, participants will start with a farm raised and made dinner at Paper Kite Farm. Following a shared meal\, Farmers Hans and Judy will give a farm tour of their diverse multi faceted farm and the ecological production practices they employ. The tour will include a conversation about and look at production of their value-added products\, on-farm camp operations\, and aspirations for a more secure local food system. \nParticipants can participate in one\, two\, or all three farm tours. SUMMARY:Grey County SCIA - Summer Crop Walk
DESCRIPTION:Grey County SCIA and the Ontario Canola Growers Association are presenting the Summer Crop Walk on July 23rd from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm. \nThe tour will be hosted by Torrie Farms and Fairmount Farms in the Strathaven/Rocklyn areas. \n  \nFeatures a tour of an organic dairy operation\, forage trial and rotational grazing talk\, scuffler demo\, canola market and nitrogen research updates\, combine and Bushels Plus demo\, and a tillage demo\, plus a pizza lunch! \n  \nRegistration is free\, we ask that everyone where clean boots to respect farm biosecurity and bring their own lawn chair. \nLunch is sponsored by the OCGA and refreshments are sponsored by Sprucedale Agromart\, Georgian View Ag Services and Midwest Co-op. \n  \nRegister by Friday July 18th by emailing info@greyagservices.ca or calling 519-986-3756. \n  \nGrey County SCIA – Summer Crop Walk is an OSCIA-recognized Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) for farmers with On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) projects in the Rotational Grazing and Nitrogen Management category.
