2025 ONFARM Forum
February 6 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join us virtually on February 6, 2025 between 9AM-12PM for our Annual ONFARM Research Forum!
Since 2019, the ONFARM program has completed extensive soil health and water quality analysis on farms across Ontario to build a stronger understanding of best management practices (BMPs) and their effect on soil health and water quality. Originally a four-year program, ONFARM was renewed until 2028.
During the Forum, we will explore:
- The effects of organic amendment applications and cover crops on yields, soil health, and water quality
- How to interpret carbon and nitrogen soil health indicators, and which ones are most helpful for tracking improvements in soil health
- The impacts of cover crops on runoff generation and water quality
- Water quality and soil health opportunities and challenges in Ontario
Please register for the Forum here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEpdeisrDsuG9HK3ODeIjfwbcmNO_8rm7ky#/registration
Please check back in mid-January for more information on our sessions and our speakers.
ONFARM is currently funded by the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, a five-year federal-provincial-territorial initiative. Developed by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) and delivered by the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA), ONFARM monitors soil health and water quality on working farms across the province, examining the effectiveness of different agricultural BMPs.
This event will be an Ontario On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF) Knowledge Sharing Event (KSE) in the category of cover cropping. We will apply for Continuing Education Credits (CEU) for Certified Crop Advisors.
