The new Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) program, funded by the government of Canada, aims to create an enabling environment for the development and adoption of clean technology that will help drive the changes required to achieve a low-carbon economy and promote sustainable growth in Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector. The program is divided into 2 streams:
Research and Innovation Stream
- Supports pre-market innovation, including research, development, demonstration and commercialization activities
- Supports adoption of commercially available clean technologies and processes with a priority given to those that show evidence of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and other environmental co-benefits
To be considered for funding, projects will have to have a total cost of at least $50 thousand. The government says it will cover up to 50 percent of the cost with for-profit recipients, such as farms, and up to 75 per cent for not-for-profit recipients.
As of this week, applicants can submit a Project Summary Form which will be used to screen potential projects. Proposals that meet the program’s priorities and criteria will then be eligible to submit a full project application.

To whom this concerns,
My name is John Koch and I am a farmer in eastern Ontario. My farm got hit hard with the Derecho on May 21st and it destroyed several grain silos.
That being said I am looking to build a grain drying facility at a new location with a new grain dryer replacing the old one.
I was wondering if someone could outline the criteria a new grain dryer needs to apply for the grant? When is the best time to apply and what would be my success rate in getting the grant if I build it the way you outline it.
Regards,
John
