OSCIA is a partner in the Greenbelt Foundation project of documenting soil types within the counties that comprise the Greenbelt.  Work was underway of testing soils within the Halton, Peel and Hamilton regions during the 2023 season and launch of the program.  Sampling will continue into 2024 focusing on the regions of Niagara, York, and Durham.  The soil sampling will assist the Greenbelt Foundation in conjunction with the Soil Health Institute to create best management practices (BMP) benchmarks for farm operations within Ontario.  If you are in these regions or adjoining counties and wish to have your fields tested as part of this research project, please follow this link to sign up https://www.greenbelt.ca/greenbelt_soil_health.
