Q: What is the most rewarding part of your business?

A: The most rewarding part of our business is providing solutions to our customers and servicing their requirements in a timely fashion. Our business is about providing information and service to our customers to help them be more profitable.

Q: What would you consider strengths of, and challenges to, today’s agriculture?

A: Agriculture today is very rewarding financially because of good commodity prices and good yields. These good times have also led to increased costs because of demand, which are aspects that need to be managed in the future.

Q: What sort of strategies or practices do you see farmers using, that bring them the most success?

A: Over the years we have seen a lot of changes in agriculture that have improved productivity, land stewardship and the financial health of farming operations. In our trading area, the following is a list of a few things that help support the previous statement. These are not listed in order of importance:

  • Increased use of cover crops and double crop systems where possible.
  • More and more land is being tile drained, which has increased yields dramatically.
  • More timely application of nutrients to minimize loss and provide better timing for crop uptake.
  • Adoption of precision technology which led to increased productivity.
  • Better cultural practices in general.

Sprucedale Agromart will continue to invest in people, machinery, technology, and infrastructure to offer our trade area tremendous service and information to help our customers.
