I) Welcome to Danny Jefferies, the new Soil Management Specialist for Horticulture Crops
Danny holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Guelph, specializing in soil science. Danny’s Master’s allowed him to pursue his strong interest in soil management and applying precision management applications.
He gained knowledge and technology transfer experience at Huron Tractor where he worked with innovative farmers to incorporate and enhance technology usage on the farm. Through this experience, he collaborated with farmers to do more with their precision ag data and interpret their field trials. He established various applied research plots to highlight technology and perform field scale trials where he observed, summarized and presented results to farmer audiences at various events and through social media.
Danny furthered his soil management expertise in his recent position with Deveron, a North American Agriculture Technology company that uses data and insights to help the agriculture sector increase yields, reduce costs and improve farm outcomes. He worked collaboratively and consulted with many agriculture customers to enhance their farm businesses utilizing various GIS & Farm Management Software to provide variable rate seeding, fertilizing and application prescriptions. He also worked with customers to evaluate more traditional on farm trials and worked with high resolution zone sampling, or Soil Optix data to provide insights related to fertility and soil management.
