Adaptive Multi Paddock Grazing with Virtual Fencing

November 17 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Date: Tuesday, November 17, 2026

Time: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Central

Adaptive Multi-Paddock (AMP) grazing can help producers improve pasture utilization, respond to changing forage conditions and give livestock access to fresh forage more frequently. However, moving temporary fences and maintaining water access can make more intensive grazing systems challenging to implement.

Join ranchers Tim Wray of Alberta and Marie-Pier Beaulieu of Quebec for a practical discussion about using virtual fencing to support AMP grazing. Drawing on their experience and research, they will share how they are using this technology, how cattle learn and respond to the system, and what they are seeing in their pastures. They will also discuss how virtual fencing affects the labour, time, infrastructure and day-to-day decisions involved in moving cattle, along with some of the challenges and limitations producers should consider. This webinar is in partnership with the Farm Resilience Mentorship (FaRM) program.

Speakers:
Tim Wray, fourth generation Alberta rancher and winner of the 2023 Environmental Stewardship Award
Marie-Pier Beaulieu, Director of the Conseil québécois des plantes fourragères (CQPF)
