With another summer winding down, I hope that everyone had the chance to make it out to some of your local Soil & Crop events.
Most recently, North Simcoe was involved in hosting the annual Summer Tour & Farm Day for the province as Andy Van Niekerk is currently the 1st Vice President for OSCIA.
He had a great turnout to the farm with a lot of speakers presenting and tons of on-farm research to showcase. Thanks to everyone who turned out to that and to the next day for the bus tour of farming in Simcoe County.
I hope that you’ve also managed to get to a summer event put on by your local association, and are looking forward to the winter meetings and AGMs that are being planned already. A lot of work goes into putting them together and that time of year will be here before we know it!
Yields have been better than expected with many areas experiencing hot dry weather and drought conditions that are turning into cool, on-off rains. I hope that everybody has a successful harvest and good yields on the crops still to come.
Take care,
Gord Coutts
Georgian Region SCIA President
